Erotica LA is a maze of booths, seminars, contests, and shows. There are literally hundreds of stands selling everything from delicate lingerie to leather harnesses, from sensual lotions to anatomically correct dolls. DVDs sales are brisk, in no small part because the booths are attended by the porn stars themselves. The Wicked Pictures girls apparently do a particularly good booth.

Burlesque and lingerie shows run throughout the weekend, as do socially conscious classes like fitness stripping to fantasy lap dancing. There's even a career center. The expo climaxes in the 4th Annual F.A.M.E. (Fans of Adult Media & Entertainment) Awards, where the general public gets to vote for their adult star.

The convention has gone Web 2.0 this year with a Twitter feed and all kinds of widgets on the main site. Whoever's doing the tweets keeps finishing messages with "xoxoxo," which is endearing but also kind of creepy. The main site is entertaining, with titillating galleries and attendee testimonials like "I love the porn stars" and "it’s classy."

Erotica LA runs downtown at the Los Angeles Convention Center the whole weekend, closing at 11pm on Friday and Saturday and wrapping up at 6pm on Sunday. Tickets are $35/day or $75 for a three day VIP pass. Entrance on Sunday is free to active military personnel and to "the recently pink slipped." Someone has a sense of humor.
