Delta Opens The Doors To Its Newest International Lounge In London

June 1, 2009 at 9:07 AM | by kjb | 0 Comments

If you just happen to win a free trip to Europe, why not spend a little of your own cash for access to one of the airport's stellar departure lounges. This is especially tempting if London's Heathrow airport is on your itinerary as passengers flying aboard Delta or one of its many partners like KLM or Air France, as they'll soon be enjoying a new two-level luxury lounge. The fresh digs will have a minimalist, contemporary-style feel to it, so you might easily imagine that you’re at the local spaceport rather than airport.

Besides the usual lounge amenities, the new Delta space will feature a spa, restaurant, wine bar, and even an oxygen bar—are these things that are still cool? Regardless, we’ll swing by for some fresh air en route to the club’s “living wall,” a gardened wall made up of over 60 species of plant life. Nothing beats a little slice of the outdoors when you haven't the time to make outside during extended travels.

One of the best features of the new lounge is their plan to control capacity; no need to share a footrest! Although the place can hold about 300 passengers, they’ll ensure it’s never more than 75 percent full. The airline is trying its best to compete for those big spending business travelers that usually are already flipping through the Wall Street Journal in the British Airways or Virgin Atlantic lounges.
