The above breakdown is only a glimpse at the "special services" fees, but we dug into the good old Terms and Conditions of ticket purchase to find the grit that piles up on a $50 roundtrip ticket to make it $90:
· $53.96: Round-trip airfare between Newark and Toledo Express (cheapest option)
· $7.20: Federal Excise Segment Tax
· $5.00: September 11 Security Fee
· $9.00: Passenger Facility Fee
· $10.00: Online Booking Fee
· $4.04: Federal Excise Tax
· $89.20: TOTAL (and we don't even have a reserved seat; that's an extra $6 each way).
We just hope that they'll remember to use our $90 for filling up the airplane's fuel tank, what with all the expansion they have planned. The Toledo Blade reports that in the next two years (if they last that long), Jet America wants to expand to Baltimore, Hartford, and Chicago's Midway Airport. We won't be holding our breath; just let them get through the first few months and then we'll see if they haven't installed treadmills to help power the flight between destinations.
