Opened in 2000, the resort is built on a hill so the three saltwater infinity pools, including one devoted especially to the spa, are downhill from guest suites. There are also two whirlpools for that crucial end-of-day soak before hiking up to the Basque bistro with ocean views.
The rooms are a bit small, according to a LATimes.com commenter, but why hide indoors when you can get someone to hold your chair for you? There's also beach access for boating or swimming, but at the end of the day you know you'll be crawling back to your private patio and picking a pool.
