· Tokyo: To escape the bright lights, big city hubbub of downtown Tokyo, many head for a walk in the Asakusa historical neighborhood, where traditional houses instead of glass skyscrapers line the streets.

This weekend there'll be more than leisurely walking however, as the Asakusa Sanja Matsuri Festival rambles through the area with dancing, music, opulent costumes, and women and children carrying shrines from the temple. · New York City: Who wants more free events this weekend? We do, especially in NYC! Kicking off a week of the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, the Meatpacking District neighborhood will hold their own Design Week with cocktail parties, art on view within stores, and open houses at some of the area's most notable buildings. Headquarters is at The Standard Hotel, so you know it'll be trendy. Check out the full schedule here.

· Washington D.C.: Now that the cherry blossoms have bloomed, what will you spend your time anxiously awaiting? How about a Dragon Boat Race This weekend in Georgetown, at the Kennedy Center Waterfront's Thompson Boat Center, crews of rowers will power their narrow dragon boats down the Potomac to re-enact that frantic rush to save a historical Chinese political figure. You may be watching from the shore, but the adrenaline and rhythmic pounding of the race drums absolutely carries over.
