Delta's International Routes (except Brazil, more on that later):
As with any international flight, plan to arrive at the airport early enough to check your bags at least 45 minutes prior to departure. Not doing so is how your bags sometimes end up on their way to New Delhi when you're simply heading to Dubai. Also, Delta has begun a funny new charge this summer for those in economy, so pay attention. Here's the deal:
· Economy Class, if purchased before April for international travel before July, is allowed 2 checked pieces free of charge, so long as they are under 50lbs each and 62 inches around. If you just bought a ticket for a flight in August, for example, you'll be charged an extra $50 for that second bag, so pack light and just go with the one.
· First and Business Class, SkyMiles and WorldPerks Elite members and full-fare (Y-class) economy are allowed 3 checked pieces free of charge, and still on the 50lbs each, 62 inches around limit.
· Military personnel can pack all they want, so long as they are travelling on orders; they're allowed 10 checked bags, with each not exceeding 100 lbs or 80 inches around.
Delta's International Flights to Brazil:
Refer to the international piece and size limits above, but relax knowing that all bags for all classes are allowed to be 70lbs each.
