Where to Stay:
According to HotelChatter, the only event of interest at last year’s fest was the battle between Madonna and the Intercontinental Carlton Hotel. According to Madonna’s camp, a French TV crew managed to get footage of her suite while she was staying there. In turn, Madonna refused to pay the $90,000 hotel bill because of the security breach. A week’s stay in one of the hotel’s suites costs 90 grand for a reason. The Carlton is one of the most recognizable points on the French Riviera and is known for excellence around the world. Rates start at $400 a night.
Where to Eat:
Every year, Zplage at the Martinez Hotel provides a true beach club experience for fest goers with side-by-side mattresses and on-call butler service. The restaurant, which serves light seafood lunches, is open to hotel guests and non-guests (for an extra fee).
What to Do:
Cannes is all about whose is bigger, whose yacht that is. Most of the exclusive parties, the ones we’d all love to get into, are on said yachts. If you are visiting Cannes sans ship, there are still opportunities to hob knob with the rich and famous. Eventually, everyone visiting Cannes does wander into a movie premiere or two. This year’s hot ticket will no doubt be Quentin Tarantino’s "Inglourious Basterds", (misspellings all Quentin's) starring Brad Pitt. The movie premieres Wednesday, May 20th, at the Grand Theatre Lumiere.
