Lounging at The Airport: Delta Sky Club

Airport lounges promise respite from the sad public seating at the gates and the unhealthy diet offerings of the terminal food courts. But of course, at a premium price. All week long at Jaunted we will be detailing what it costs to lounge at the big domestic airline lounges. Got any suggestions or tips? Let us know.

Delta Sky Club
· How Much: $50 for a day pass that grants you access even if you are flying on another airline. If you're not afraid of commitment, you're looking at $450 if you don't have any airline status. If you're coming and going a bunch within 30 days, you can join for $90.
· Internet Access: They were using T-Mobile Hot Spots with a fee, but as of a couple weeks ago, your WiFi should be free at all the clubs. Unfortunately, there still might be a couple of locations still waiting for the upgrade.

· Beverages: Complimentary alcoholic beverages. That's right--wine, beer, and spirits without a charge, all from their fully-stocked bars. If the hard stuff isn't your thing, there's plenty of free soda, juice, tea, and coffee.
· Snacks: Like most clubs, there's a selection of free snack items. Chips, crackers, fruit, and cheese are usually on the menu. We've also heard that Nutella often makes an appearance as well.
· Other Amenities: Magazines and newspapers like the USA Today and The Wall Street Journal should entertain you for a bit. Depending on the location, there's workstations, fax machines, free local calls, televisions, and putting greens (awesome).
· What To Watch Out For: Delta's lounges used to be called Crown Room Clubs, so be on the lookout for the old name. They're also transitioning all the old Northwest WorldClubs under Delta's umbrella, so you can definitely swing by those clubs too. There's over 50 clubs worldwide, with 8 in ATL alone--the one in Concourse T has the putting greens! Showers are available in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York (JFK). Finally, there are some rules at the club, as your attire, "must be in keeping with good taste and a dignified atmosphere." Make sure to keep it classy!

I'm a frequent Delta flier, but I admit that I haven't flown in the past few months to cities that have a club (or have made such a quick connection that I couldn't visit). I have always loved the Delta clubs, but the T-Mobile Hot Spots have really pissed me off. However, now that they offer free WiFi, I know that I will continue to renew my membership with Delta annually.

I was ready to switch from US Airways Lounge to Delta's after reading this. However, I'm looking at Delta's website and only about 2/3 of the lounges have a bar at all, and maybe half of those have complimentary drinks.

Has this recently changed, and their web site just doesn't reflect it yet?

Using the link you provided, I only see like two lounges that don't have complimentary bars--both in DC.

Some don't have full-service bars, but they should still have some self-service areas where you can loosen up before boarding.

If you search by all clubs you would have access to, there are some without the little drink logo, because they aren't Delta-owned clubs. However, the ones owned by Continental and the bigger international partners should have some free booze.

I am taking a trip with a long lay over and passing through Atlanta. i was thinking of getting a 1 day pass but until I read the comment by @mladd I didn't know the drinks weren't free. If you check the icon descriptions there are 2 different bar icons. One has the glass with a star below it (Drinks for purchase), The other icon just shows a orange glass without the star (Complimentary Drinks) Meaning free drinks. It seems all 8 Atlanta Sky clubs only have drinks for purchase. Same as with all of the New York lounges except for a single one at New York, NY (LGA). The JFK lounges all have drinks for purchase. Unfortunately most of the Delta Sky clubs located within the states are drinks for purchase bars. Here are the only ones I found with free drinks located in the US. Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN San Francisco, CA New York, NY (LGA) (Behind delta ticket counter) Milwaukee, WI Memphis, TN Detroit, MI (All 4 have free drinks) Chicago, IL (O'Hare - ORD) Thats to bad. I could have gone through Detroit or Chicago. I guess i won't bother with the 24 hour pass.

Hello. I would be careful where you get your information. EVERY Sky Club at ATL has free drinks. Unlimited all you want. I sometimes tip a buck here and there but otherwise all free. That's true of every Sky Club I've been in around the World and I've been in most of them. Not sure about DC. Actually - reading your post, are you from another airline trying to steer people away from Delta? Because your information is stated as fact but is completely wrong.

Delta Sky Clubs have free drinks...period. There are self-serve bars that are free, and full-service bars that are also free. Unless a club loses its liquor license or something, feel free to party on.
