Before everyone goes about pegging BMI as a supporter for a single side in the Israel/Palestine issue, let it be known that this map fluke is due to the usual scapegoat of technical difficulties, compiled with the fact that the airplanes operating on the London-Tel Aviv route were acquired by BMI from a defunct Arab airline, British Mediterranean Airways (BMED).
Beirut gets a holler, Mecca is representin', and even the Israeli port city of Haifa appears, although the latter is labeled "Khefa," it's Arabic name. It's almost like having a plane full of Yankee fans flying into New York, only Boston is the only other city appearing on the LiveMap aside from Brooklyn, which is spelled the Dutch way of "Breukelen." Oh, the humanity!
To avoid any hiccups in tourism or international relations between Britain and Israel, BMI has issued an apology and will discontinue use of the planes on the twice-daily route until the map can be fixed.
