FlyDubai Is Finally Ready To Go Starting June 1

Even though things are no longer on the up and up in Dubai, officials are finally moving forward with the low cost carrier FlyDubai. Apparently, they feel there’s still a little bit of interest in visiting the Middle Eastern hot spot. After what seems like forever, the airline is set to debut its brand new Boeing 737-800s starting this June from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport. Just remember to keep your hands to yourself during the boarding process.

Their initial flights will whisk passengers back and forth between Dubai and Beirut as well as Dubai and Amman, Jordan. To kick things off the airline is offering fares around $100 each way, with flights a little cheaper out of Dubai. Don’t get too excited over the low fares, since they’ll charge you a couple bucks to pick out your seat, a little more to check a bag, and around $15 if you want to guarantee some extra legroom. Drinks and snacks are extra too, but on their flights over two and half hours they’ll offer something hot—but it’s not totally clear if that’s extra too.

Once in the cabin you’ll be enjoying some new Recaro seats that have the seat pockets at the top of the seat, so you’ll get a little more legroom—they say about 30 inches between the back of your seat and the seat in front of you. The airlines says that they will "expand rapidly" so we are eager to see when they will deliver on their promise to further expand to countries in the Middle East and to India. For now, we guess we should be happy with what we've got so far.

Name Change

If they call it FlyThruDubai, maybe they can hit up some places where people still want to go.

Dubai's Dark Side

Did anybody read the recent article on Dubai in the Independent? If even half the stuff in it is true, then it looks like Dubai is in for a heck of a rough road ahead. http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/johann-hari/the-dark-side-of-dubai-1664368.html

guinea pig

I'd gladly hop one of their first flights if they'd like to give me carte blanche to go at it on beaches. Then and only then.
