Universal Orlando's Newest Coaster Delayed Until 'Late Spring or Summer'

If you were planning to head to Universal Studios in Orlando soon, you may want to push your trip out a couple months. The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster has been delayed from its original launch date, and is now looking to thrill tourists starting in “late spring/early summer.” Um, isn't it already late spring? Anyways, at least they’ve finally revealed some details of the coaster.

Before riding this new steel beast you’ll pick your own soundtrack to listen to while you are trying to hang on for your life at up to 65 mph. Even fans of country will be able to listen to their favorite Toby Keith joint, as the song selection will encompass five different genres of music. At the end of your trip you can even purchase a video of your ride complete with the soundtrack you picked—sounds expensive.

The coaster’s X-CAR style vehicle allows it to be more maneuverable than other types of rollers coasters as it navigates its 3,800-feet of track and 17-story vertical lift. Different sections of the coaster like Treble Clef, Double Take, and Jump Cut will twist and turn you like never before. We like the sound of the Crowd Surfer part—you’re flipped on a 95-degree angle as you fly 30-feet above the folks waiting to board the ride.

It also features restraints that are less restrictive, so you’ll probably feel like you are going to fall out more than usual. Best of all the new design should allow multiple cars on the track at one time, cutting down on wait times, and allowing a constant flow of action. We just hope they can stick to their deadline, because another coaster is opening just down the street.
