Who knew mall cop comedies would become all the rage? The latest, "Observe and Report", starring Seth Rogen as a bi-polar mall security guard who is called into action when a flasher takes advantage of mall patrons, opens today. "Observe and Report" was filmed at the Winrock Mall in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Here’s how to get up close and personal to it.

Where to Stay:
Winrock Mall is in uptown Albuquerque, NM, along with a variety of chain restaurants, box stores, movie theaters, and hotels, one of which is a Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown. The Sheraton was recently renovated and is receiving rave reviews on Trip Advisor. Juanless07 called staying at the Sheraton, “an awesome experience” and at_the_track called it “a nice hotel in a great location.” Along with the new renovations, the hotel now offers an on-site Starbucks, Wi-Fi in every rooms, and in-room Jacuzzis. Right now, rooms start as low as $99 a night.

Where to Eat:
To keep with the mall theme, a chain restaurant seemed only fitting and what chain restaurant is better than Sizzler? Located at 7212 Menaul Blvd Ne, the Sizzler is just steps from the Sheraton and the Midrock Mall. For a Sizzler, this one gets great reviews for its good service and fresh salad bar. Known for their steak, they offer nearly a dozen different varieties at reasonable prices too.

What to See:
The reason the majority of “Observe and Report” was filmed at Winrock is because the mall is mostly vacant, the only department store left is Dillards. This provided a blank canvas for producers to create their fictional shopping center Forrest Ridge. During the shoot, the facility housed fake stores like Curvaceous Lingerie, Zoo Town, and Dress Right. They even built a fake food court with restaurants like Captain O'Landers, Toast and Bun, Banzai Banana, and Sub Atomic, all complete with fake food.

It was recently announced that Gov. Bill Richardson has signed a multimillion dollar deal to help revitalize the Winrock Mall which will turn the space into an outdoor shopping center. In the meantime, you can get your shopping fix at the nearby Coronado Center, also in uptown Albuquerque. Coronado has a wide variety of stores including Macy’s and JCPenny.
