Drink To Your Health With Yuengling
Become an informed consumer while still on vacation! Check out Jaunted's newest series of the best factory tours the world over.
The Yuengling Brewery in Pottsville, Pennsylvania claims to be America's oldest... and who are we to doubt them? But not only are the end-of-tour samples generous, the tour takes visitors beyond the usual beer pilgrimage.
One of two breweries operated by Yuengling ("ying-ling") in the U.S. (the other one's in Tampa), the Pottsville stop is on the National Register of Historic Places and obeys similarly antiquated notions of safety as it takes visitors right up to the machinery on the factory floor. You'll be marched up and down several flights of stairs to catwalks over the production line to see the hopstore and the bottle shop, and if you're lucky, get to see the caves where kegs used to be stored. Wind up at the bar to enjoy your two (2) free beers -- we hear the black and tan is particularly good.
Tours are free and happen Monday thru Friday at 10AM and 1:30PM except major holidays. Underage visitors are welcome but they will only get root beer at the end of the tour. Closed toed shoes are required, and if you don't bring your own you will have to wear loaners.
