When the actual anniversary of the fall of the wall hits in the first week of November, Berlin will really come to life with the Festival of Freedom, running from November 7-9 on both sides of the Brandenburg Gate in the city center.
Included in this festival will be the fall of a thousand eight-foot high dominos (they'd better line them up right) and it's meant to be a real multimedia spectacular kind of deal. Of course, nothing will ever be quite as spectacular as seeing those first East Berliners chipping away at the wall two decades ago, but it's still a great reason to celebrate.
