This week, teams are headed to Beijing to find a foot massage spa. Kisha and Jen seem eager to put last week's shenanigans behind them. Tammy and Victor arrive at the airport and use their mastery of the language to get ahead. They ask for, and get, seats near the front of the aircraft. The other three teams are all on the same flight, so maneuvering now could help them buy a few precious extra seconds of lead time. Once on the ground in Beijing, the teams scramble to find taxis to transport them to the massage spa.
ROADBLOCK
In this Roadblock, one team member must submit to a traditional Chinese foot
massage. While it sounds relaxing, reflexology can be quite painful, and team
members must endure ten minutes without a break in order to earn their next clue.
Tammy takes a Zen breathing approach to the pain while Jaime settles for crying. Luke
writhes silently in pain, but all four make it through. Next, teams are headed to the
Guangcai Natatorium.
DETOUR
Teams must chose between Sync or Swim. In Sync, teams must
participate in synchronized diving from the three meter platform. Judges will score
each dive. Teams continue diving until both members receive a passing score. In
Swim, teams must swim 400 meters, or eight laps, in an Olympic sized pool.
Teams will swim in relay, and each team member must complete 200 meters in order to
get the next clue. Tammy and Victor try Sync first, stripping into very
unflattering Speedos. After what seems like hours, they decide to switch tasks. Kisha
and Jen also start with the diving, but Jen's fear of the water materializes almost
immediately. It's tough because both challenges involve swimming to some degree. Over
at Swim, Jaime and Cara get straight to work knocking out the 400 meters, with
Luke and Margie right behind. Both teams are finished by the time the other two switch
tasks and start swimming. This is where Jen has her meltdown, but she eventually
straps into her life preserver and gets on with it. Jumping off of a 700 foot dam
seems way scarier to us. Tammy and Victor take it slow and steady and get the job
done. Eventually, Kisha and Jen work through their fears and complete the Detour.
THE PIT STOP
This week, it's the Drum Tower in
ancient Beijing. However, when Jaime and Cara arrive first, they are handed another
clue and told by Phil to keep going! It's a continuation and not a Pit Stop!
Psyche! They both looked so crestfallen when they didn't win a fabulous
Travelocity vacation or matching Ski-Doos. Ah well, keep on truckin', ladies!
NEXT WEEK
We'll get a chance to see how everyone else placed at this week's faux Pit Stop, and
it looks like everyone's favorite: the gross eating challenge! Finally! We always look
forward to the episode that makes us gag. This one looks like it involves seafood and
other creepy-crawlies from the deep.
