Where To Stay:
After a late night out rubbing elbows at those Midnight Awards and late night viewings, just stroll down the street and rest up at the Hotel Kabuki. It’s a Joie de Vivre Hotel right in Japantown and only a couple blocks from the Sundance Kabuki Cinema, so you won’t even need a taxi. We saw rates for as low as $88 with the code SFIFF, but just make sure you get a room with a Japanese-style soaking tub.
Where To Eat:
Try Maruya Sushi on Fillmore Street. It’s casual and you can take your bento box back to your hotel if you’d like. The place has been there forever, and is pretty affordable compared to other places in the area. Locals on Yelp seem to love it, and apparently the sushi rice is what makes their rolls so damn tasty. Save some money on dinner here, and you can hit up some other sights before you depart the city by the bay.
Where To Move:
You’re probably going to do a lot of sitting during the festival, and all those Milk Duds and Whoppers aren’t going to help your pledge to eat better. So you should get a little active while in town, and what better way to do so than at the San Francisco Hang Gliding Center? It's only ten miles outside of the city and after only five minutes of instruction, you’ll be enjoying a tandem flight. Regular lessons start at about $160 (split with your tandem buddy of course.) Weather permitting they'll even take your picture up in the air, so you can brag to your friends when you get back.
