Josh Hartnett Admits He's Careless About Water Safety; Are You?
What is this world coming to when our celebrities can no longer travel without the potential of illness? We're taking out the heavy-duty sarcasm wand to transform Josh Hartnett's claim that his recent hospitalizations are due to "third world countries."
Hartnett was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in L.A. a few weeks ago with an unspecified gastro-intestinal ailment. When he wasn't packed off to cushy rehab soon after, the possibility existed that he may actually be ill -- and that's what the singer told US Weekly, saying he's had a "stomach bug" on and off for several months now:
"It's been recurring because I've spent a lot of time in third world countries and I drink the water occasionally when I shouldn't, I shower and -- [it's] nothing to worry about!"
Hartnett stayed mum about what particular countries are still mad about paying $10.50 for "Wicker Park," but we're putting our money on the Philippines or China, where Hartnett recently shot "I Come With The Rain," a detective story costarring Ben Kingsley. And yeah, maybe it was one unlucky swallow that knocked him out, but he's been pretty flippant about the whole thing.
If he didn't want to go the bottled-water route, how about a camping-style water filter, or getting his PA (surely he had one!) to boil some water? Those are the two methods recommended by Everyday Health for travelers -- which also mentions purifying tablets, but those might not completely clean the water on their own. If someone with assistants can't be bothered to do that, well, who's to blame?
We think the hassle of getting hold of bottled water is minor compared to the water issues many countries around the world face. Are we just no fun? Does Hartnett need to be sent back to remedial travel school? And how careful are you with your water when traveling?
