'Twilight' Sequel Forges Ahead Amidst Fan Frenzy

"Twilight" actor Taylor Lautner finds out he has fans at the Vancouver airport yesterday, despite disappointing millions when he accepted an award at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in place of super-sparkly costar Robert Pattinson.

Hey, you know what would be a very mean, yet awesome April Fool's Day joke? Posting on "Twilight" message boards today that the Canadian-shot sequel was having an open call for extras today. Not that fans are having a difficult time finding the set of "New Moon" in Hollywood North.

According to the Vancouver Sun, feral packs of teenagers roaming the town have located the set at Minnekhada Regional Park in neighboring Coquitlam and at Pacific Rim National Park, site of a watery scene involving Lautner and Kristen Stewart.

So far, though, there have not been any major fan invasions, or at least nothing on the scale of the announced open call which drew thousands more than the crew could handle. Dare we attribute it to the recession that "New Moon" seems to be the only high-profile pic currently shooting in Vancouver? Seems like a golden opportunity for "Iron Man 2" or "Indy 5" to get some urban location scenes done. If you're in Vancouver, tell us about what you've seen!
