Delta Changes The Name Of Its Lounge And That's Pretty Much It

March 5, 2009 at 9:18 AM | by kjb | 0 Comments

Delta Airlines has been pretty quiet as far as their merger with Northwest Airlines is concerned. Things have been moving forward, although the airlines are still technically operating as two separate entities for the foreseeable future. Of course, there have been some schedule changes, plane swaps, and a shifting in flight frequency among the many hubs that Delta has to now oversee.

However one big change was announced yesterday, one that will specifically affect business travelers and really fancy frequent fliers. The airline is changing the names of both their Crown Room Clubs and Northwest’s World Clubs.

Starting next month, Delta will begin to change over the airport lounges to Delta Sky Clubs.

Apparently, they can’t get enough of the word sky—SkyMiles, Sky Magazine, and SkyTeam—they love it. We wouldn't be totally shocked if they brought in Deltalina to kick things off.

Of course current members can continue to still use the clubs, regardless of any other creative marketing or name changes. You’ll still have access to free booze, snacks, and Internet access. No souped-up offerings a la Lufthansa, but an airline spokesperson said that 2010 will be the year that the club’s amenities will become more aligned.

We're thinking they need to upgrade the offerings, and quickly, especially if they want to attract more high-spending travelers. So for now, things will pretty much remain the same on your next layover in Atlanta or Minneapolis, so just look for the new signs.
