Allegiant Air Continues Toward Domestic Dominance

March 4, 2009 at 9:56 AM | by kjb | 0 Comments

Allegiant Air is keeping us busy with all their new route announcements. With their low cost model to vacation hotspots, it’s almost like they didn’t get the memo that the economic sky is falling. That’s fine with us, since we are more than ready to get out of here and take a quick break to somewhere warm. We don’t want to bore your with numbers, but they also just announced that their traffic was up almost ten percent when compared to February 2008.

Myrtle Beach is the airline’s newest destination, but to start, they’ll only be taking passengers from Tri-State Airport in West Virginia. The promotional rates will start at $39 each way, and they are offering service twice a week starting on April 30.

Myrtle Beach is expected to also be the focus of an additional announcement later today, as they’ll connect one more airport to that southern vacation hot spot.

On April 1, Allegiant continues its dominance of smaller airports, when it starts a flight from the St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport to Biloxi, Mississippi. Of course they’ll be bundling affordable flight options with something to do, and this time it’s a casino. The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino is subsidizing the cost of the flight, and is offering $199 packages rates per person to enjoy a two nights of gambling, the flight, and ground transportation.

You’ll have easy access to throwing your money away three times a week, and somewhere to take your grandparents when you visit them.

Update [2009-3-4 10:45:54 by kjb]: The additional airport to see service to Myrtle Beach will be Lehigh Valley Airport in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Flights will be twice a week here as well, and they'll start at a promotional rate of $49 each way.
