Mexico's LCC Volaris Has Its Eyes Set On The States

Where: Mexico

Things haven’t been too quiet south of the border, but if there’s one thing that has been quiet it’s Volaris. The low cost carrier has taken Mexico by storm, but there hasn't been too much news up in our neck of the woods.

They've promised to hookup with Southwest, but so far in the states, we've only been able look down and dream of cheap flights to the beach—at least we’ve got Viva Aerobus.

However, there is some good news, the airline has been busy dreaming of expansion plans. It recently announced that it wants to fly its planes to Oakland and Los Angeles starting in 2010. Officials were also sniffing around San Jose and the Silicon Valley scene.

If you prefer your flights to Mexico to originate from the east coast or just can't wait any longer, then Volaris has you covered. The airline is planning to start flights this June from Ft. Lauderdale. It doesn’t look like you can book anything through their website yet, so you may want to hold off on reserving that hotel. At least we’ve got something to look forward to, we just hope there's a little more "arriba arriba" and a little less planning.
