If you took advantage of Iceland when it was on sale, then you probably need something to do when you get there. Of course there’s always the blue lagoon, plenty of puffins, and even famous museums. However, if you’re looking for something with a little more local flavor and culture, then you may want to see what’s going on at the Reykjavik Blues Festival.

We already know that the country has a lot to sing the blues about, with their country’s economic situation somehow even much worse than our own. This year’s festival is definitely going to have a lot more heart than in previous years. Things kick off the weekend of April 4 when the Nordic All Stars Blues Band and others perform in the streets, cafes, and shops of the city center.

Things run through April 9, and the bigger performances will take place at the Hilton Reykjavík Nordica. Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, The Blue Ice Band, and even the Finnskogen Blues Band from Norway will all be performing at the hotel, which sits right in the financial district—ha. If you’re booked on one of the Icelandair packages, then you can get a pass for $100 that’s good for the whole festival.
