Guten Tag To Germany's New Theme Park Offerings

Where: Germany

Nothing beats downing a churro or two and gallivanting about your favorite theme park. Well, if you’re planning on being in Germany sometime this summer, you’ll have a couple new rides to test out. Just remember to eat the metric ton of fried delicacies after you test out these new attractions.

At Europapark, Germany’s most popular park, they’re debuting some kind of catapult-coaster-contraption. It will spin you around 360 degrees and reach about 60 miles per hour—in two and half seconds—as it totally disorientates you and makes you feel like garbage. Even without an official name yet—we suggest the SausageMaker—this thing should quickly turn into a crowd favorite, so remember to bring some entertainment while you’re in the “queue.”

The park features areas devoted to the different countries of Europe—just like a park in Florida we know about—they love it so much they even ripped off Epcot’s Spaceship Earth. However, here it’s a little more exciting, it’s known as the Eurostat and features a trip through the blackness of space (roller coaster in the dark). So if you couldn’t afford that railpass this year, just see all of Europe right here—it’s probably pretty authentic.

If you’re sick and tired of the biergartens in Bavaria just swing on by Legoland Gunzburg. It’s not the best in Europe—that one is in Denmark, duh—but it does have its share of cool creations and unnecessary souvenirs. New this year is an Atlantis-themed ride, which of course, is complete with interactive Lego displays and an underwater glass tunnel.

Finally, if you’re looking to cool off you'll need to check out Phantasialand. It opens on April 4, but we recommend waiting for it to get a little warmer before checking out the Wakobato. It’s some kind of water ride meets water battle, in which you are likely to get soaked and/or injured. We say it’s a win-win and definitely worth a try this season. Situated right by Cologne, the park also features a flume ride and the Octowuzy—which is some sort of water playground and some sort of awesome just because of its name.
