Celebs have invaded Twitter! Celebrities Twittering is a social media perfect storm. This elite sect of Twitterati is extremely thumbnail photogenic, well-trained in innovative ways of seeking attention/letting it all hang out, and most importantly for us travel geeks, constantly traveling the world. This week we're looking at who's Tweeting what from where. Any Celeb Twitterers we should follow? Let us know.

The man, the myth, the legend: Head designer of Chanel and Fendi as well as his own label, Karl Lagerfeld spends just as much time jetting around the world as he does sketching fashions. Many of his addictions are widely known, such as his penchant for Diet Coke, his love of Zaha Hadid's architecture, and his obsession with his 40 iPods (all carried in a bespoke trunk by a dedicated iPod assistant). For such an influential personality with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, you'd think that he'd be twittering up a storm in flood of languages, but others have beat him to the punch.

We've long been following one who is not Karl himself, but gives tongue-in-cheek tweets like Karl's private thoughts. High on location-specific updates such as mentions of tea in Paris and snow in Milan, the aptly named Twitter account of fakekarl never fails to make us (and fashion editors) titter with tweets like this:

[fakekarl] is in Vermont with a Chanel fishing rod, a Chanel speedboat (quilted motor), and Anna [Wintour] who is shooting animals for fur. Delicious!

Do remember that his is a fictional account, but could the real Karl exist somewhere on Twitter? Acting on a tip from a Jaunted reader, we checked out the profile of another, unklekarl, but aside from tweeting the dates and times of his Paris fashion shows, nothing stands out to convince us that this is the genuine article.

Instead, better to go with the nearest imitation of Karl_Lagerfeld, a Twitter which could very well be kept up by his PR people seeing as how it is rarely updated and only with old quotes from the man himself. We do wish for more on his jetsetting ways, but for now we'll have to settle for gems like these:

The best Christmas gift I received this year? A platinum pogo stick.

After the couture [fashion show], I am spending a quiet weekend in my all-glass apartment, floating over the river on Quai Voltaire.

While his fashion majesty may still be too busy with his iPods to take up Twitter, there are plenty of options to get a virtual dose of the Kaiser, saving you the $50K+ of having a couture Chanel gown made just for him to talk to you. After all, he's got to save all his witticisms for the glossies.
