U2's Secret Gig at Fordham University

March 2, 2009 at 10:26 AM | by cmb | 0 Comments

U2 may be making a special appearance in the Bronx this week. According to The Hartford Courant, Bono and Co. will be filming a segment for "Good Morning America" at Fordham University on Friday as a promotional stint for their new album, "No Line on the Horizon", which drops tomorrow.

Reportedly, the secret gig is open to Fordham students and staff only. The Courant also reports that professors have been asked to cancel all Friday morning classes for security reasons though the University and ABC refuse to confirm the concert.

The Fordham University event may only be a rumor at this point but we know for certain the band will be appearing on "The Late Show with David Letterman" every night this week. The bad news is, tickets are given out several weeks in advance.

If you still want to catch a glimpse of the guys but don’t have tickets to Letterman or a Fordham University ID, you can always try waiting outside the Ed Sullivan Theater, where "The Late Show" is filmed, to watch them walk in. The show is taped Mondays at 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 5:30 PM, and Thursdays at 4:30 PM. There is a side door on West 53rd between Broadway and 8th Ave where guests enter an hour or so before each show. But be warned, you'll have to get there early for a good view since there is often a crowd of celeb gawkers and paparazzi waiting outside.

Last week, U2 performed a surprise concert on top of the BBC building. Don’t be surprised if they pop up on a random rooftop, bridge or ferry in NYC this week, it seems like they can turn up just about anywhere these days.
