At “regular intervals” – on the hour, it’s suggested – this whiz-bang contraption pops out a perfect morsel of chocolate indulgence, free for the taking by happy passersby.
So, as Vegas readies itself to sheepishly court the family market (everyone’s a member of the target audience during a recession), visitors to this jewel box of a confectioners shop can also enjoy traditional French bistro cuisine in the nearly hidden dining room. Step around to the left of the pastry counter and settle in for Eggs Florentine, a decadent Croque Monsieur or a wedge of melt-in-your-mouth quiche by award-winning, third-generation French pastry chef Francois Payard. Capped off by an ambiance that echos the dark chocolate and creamy vanilla hues in the pastry case outside, it’s all very nearly parfait.
Payard Patisserie is across from Rao’s near the convention center area inside Caesars Palace. It’s open for breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The pastry counter – and Chocolate Clock – are open until 11 p.m.
