Where Is Allegiant's New Destination?

Allegiant Air is giving a way a pair of round trip tickets to its newest sunny destination. The catch is that you need to successfully guess that new destination. The new flights will be non-stop from 12 smaller airports including cities in Washington, Colorado, Texas, and South Dakota. You only have about four days left to figure it out and submit your pick, but thanks to the Internet we have a couple guesses.

Brett Snyder over at the CrankyFlier blog is reporting that the new location is going to be Los Angeles. Not just the Los Angeles area, but specifically big, bad, LAX. Allegiant usually flies into smaller market airports; however, they do fly into Las Vegas, and apparently aren’t afraid to take on the big boys. Other rumors suggest that the planes may start to visit the San Bernardino airport, which is about 60 miles outside of downtown Los Angeles. The dark horse in the race is San Diego. It’s warm, sunny, and new, but just doesn’t seem to be a winner.

The folks at Beat Of Hawaii have another suggestion, although this one doesn’t appear related to the immediate contest. They suspect that Allegiant may be looking to enter the Hawaiian market sooner than later. Of course, they’ll need to get some planes with a greater range than their current MD-80s, but with something a little bigger they’ll easily be able to make the trip from their main base in Las Vegas—or maybe even Los Angeles.

Regardless of where the airline is looking to set up shop, we’re excited to see a new low-cost option in SoCal.
