If the idea of spending the entire weekend indoors is not too appealing, then take the party outside to the All-Star Block Party. This is going to be your best chance to run into celebrities and players, but we're thinking you'll probably just run into announcer Ahmad Rashad. Local bands will be performing and retailers will be showing off their goods. If this turns out to be lame, at least they'll be selling beer.
Like most cities that have seen a recent spike in development, Phoenix suffers from sprawl syndrome. Things are best discovered with a rental car, and staying in downtown proper doesn’t really offer any advantages. So if you’re going to go, pony up for a room at Kimpton’s FireSky Resort and Spa in nearby Scottsdale. Although rooms start at $276 this weekend, you’ll be lounging at the sandy pool, and will be walking distance to the Scottsdale Fashion Square and the eclectic Old Town. Just remember the cash, since taking your sweetie to the All-Star game is going to cost you some jewelry.
