Call it an addiction, an obsession, or just damn good taste, but we here at Jaunted are on a perpetual search for the perfect cup of joe. Yet, a lauded Bay Area company has half-convinced us to call the search off.

San Francisco's historic Ferry Building, a favorite stop of tourists, locals, and above all, those with fine palates, is home to a Farmer's Market and many a gourmet retailer. It's where you'll find warm loaves of Acme Bread first thing in the morning, Cowgirl Creamery's rich selection of cheeses, and artisanal olive oils by McEvoy Ranch. It's also where you'll find a Blue Bottle Coffee outpost, the famed product of one of the Northern California's expert roasters.

The line at BB's kiosk is inevitably long, because each cup is prepared with scientific precision. If you think you're serious about coffee, think twice. Blue Bottle has you beat, brewing every individual cup to order, under stringent rules and an eagle-eyed watch to ensure the highest quality.

Each taste test yields the same verdict: best coffee ever. We have sampled lattes, espressos, and straight-up black coffees the world over—London, Paris, Manila, Barcelona among these destinations—and Blue Bottle is pure perfection. We're not ones for gushing, but we're willing to give credit where credit is due.

Those of you who do not live in or near San Francisco can order their coffee online and prepare your cups according to standards outlined on their official website. Angelenos, meanwhile, can stop by Venice's Equator Books to get a fix and pick up an out-of-print novel or vintage Playboy on the way out. Satisfaction guaranteed.
