Kuala Lumpur is a pretty sizzling city to stop in on its own. You can get to the top of the Petronas Towers, the tallest twin buildings in the world, or simple over-indulge in cheap food, drink and dancing. Beyond the city, Malaysia gives you beaches, wildlife, islands and pretty much any combination of adventure and relaxation that a tourist could desire.
The Lonely Planet mob who put Malaysia in their top ten said the country's all about diversity: you can dive on a coral reef one day and climb a mountain the next, and choose from Malay, Indian or Chinese cultural influences, which are all local in one way or another. But let it be known that we started spreading the word on Malaysia long before they did.
Other destinations in the top ten include: El Salvador, Germany, Greece, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Portugal, Suriname and the USA.
