Qantas Has Issues And John Mayer Tweets Them

The flying kangaroo, AKA Qantas, has got problems. As if banning beer on some flights wasn't bad enough, the planes and the pilots have been misbehaving too.

Last week, there was the case of the pilots who forgot to put the landing gear down on their way into Sydney, forcing the pilots to abort the landing and go again later. Those pilots have now been suspended although the lack of landing gear is being put down to a "brief communications breakdown" by Qantas.

And on Friday night, a LAX-bound A380 with none other than John Mayer on board was forced to divert and land in Melbourne thanks to a faulty fuel pump. Mayer tweeted his frustrations about Qantas and the hotel room they put him up in while waiting for the next flight:

Sydney to Los Angeles. I mean, turn around, back to Sydney. I mean, over to Melbourne ... Thanks Airbus A380!
This hotel smells like the carbon paper in a coroner's report. (I'm tired, go with it.)
No more complaining ... I remember how to do this. Guerrilla tour mode ENGAGE.

These international passengers, at least, wouldn't have been subject to the domestic-flight beer ban, but it sure seems like the ol' Qantas high standard is slipping.
