Koozin' It Up In Santa Monica: The Kooza Cirque Du Soleil Show

November 5, 2009 at 4:39 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

While VegasChatter is all a-tizzy about the new Viva Elvis Cirque du Soleil show that is set to hit The Strip next month, the folks in Los Angeles are getting a chance to experience Kooza in their own backyard at the Santa Monica Pier.

Kooza is the story of a little boy who's trying to find his place in the world. Called The Innocent, he's guided by The Trickster who shows him all sorts of things in the world of Kooza from a bumbling king and his clown sycophants to a loudmouth pickpocket, pretty female contortionists, jugglers, dancers, tightrope walkers (and cyclists) and tumblers extraordinaire.

The show's acrobatics are as awe-inspiring as any other Cirque show and set to amazing traditional Indian music but unlike the formal theater layouts in Vegas, Kooza is set in a good old-fashioned big top tent (although we suspect it's been modernized since P.T. Barnum days) and every seat has excellent views. You can suss out the seating options here but just beware that you may be selected for some audience participation. Tickets start at $54 for seats off to the left. Premium seats at $125 will get extremely close to the action. The show ends its run in Santa Monica on December 20th.

Parking Info: Try to avoid the madness of parking below the pier. Yes, your walk to the Kooza tent will be short but the hellacious traffic is just not worth it. Instead, pay a flat $3 rate and park in any of the structures along the Third Street Promenade. You'll have to walk at most three blocks to the pier. You could also valet at any of the restaurants along Ocean Avenue and eat dinner before the show. The valets will keep your car until midnight.
