Jetblue's Revamped TrueBlue Program Begins Monday; Get To Know It Now

Whose ready for the "newer, truer TrueBlue" program from Jetblue? Well, ready or not, it's coming at the beginning of next week and the arrival of the new structure means no more free flights just by accumulating a few roundtrip coast-to-coasters; nope, now you've got to watch how much you spend versus how much you fly.

If you're keen to check your point balance or do some other fiddling with your TrueBlue account in the next few days, you better do it now. Accounts will be unavailable between Friday and Monday morning during the switchover. For those of you who simply can't wait for the new program to take affect, you can read up on the changes...

The details on the new TrueBlue program, after the jump.

· You'll receive 6 points per dollar spent on your flight booked on Jetblue.com
· If you have the Jetblue AMEX card, you'll get 8 points per dollar
· No blackout dates for reward travel
· No expiration on points accumulated (yay!)
· One-way award flights starting from 5,000 points (akin to spending $830 dollars on Jetblue flights)
· "Go Big" Bonuses: iin a 12-month period: reach 3,000 points and earn 500 bonus points; 6,000 points for 1,000 bonus points; 9,000 points for 2,000 bonus points; 12,000 points for 4,000 bonus points and an additional 4,000 bonus points for every 3,000 points above 12,000 points.
· "Go Long" Bonus: Buy five, get one free. Take five roundtrip flights (minimum 2,000 miles per segment) within a 12-month period and get a bonus of 10,000 points (enough for an award round-trip flight).

Essentially, Jetblue is switching from the old system, where they awarded points based on length of flight, to the new system with a focus on how much you spend on that flight. Do you have a credit card that gives you points per dollar? Yea—it's a lot like that but with Jetblue free flights waiting for you as rewards when you spend so much.

JetBlue Trickery

Great description, now look at JetBlue's website and see how many more points/dollars you have to spend on your credit card to fly somewhere! When you get behind the fancy marketing, JetBlue has just cut the credit card benefit, that's it! Oh, and good luck redeeming your Old True Blue points. You can't redeem them online, you have to call in. I was just put on hold for 55 minutes, after which the phone was hung up after I requested to redeem my Old True Blue points! Very clever, JetBlue. Guess I'll be flying Continental now. Oh, they have bigger TV screens too.
