Ricky Martin Tweets His Emergency Landing

December 1, 2009 at 9:02 AM | by | Comments (0)

We can't even believe we're writing these words, but Latinolicious singer Ricky Martin had some airplane trouble a few days ago, and tweeted all about it, prompting Perez Hilton to cover the incident. Only in 2009, you guys.

On a flight down to Puerto Rico on Sunday—we're assuming from his home in Miami, although he doesn't name an airport or airline—Ricky Martin discovered he wasn't in control of his life while flying, when his flight needed to make an emergency landing after some suspicious noises and cabin depressurization. He even got to witness a fuel dump as the aircraft reduced its weight for the emergency landing.

We have to warn you that Ricky Martin is one of those really annoying Twitter people who adopted texting language for tweets, but listen to his mini-drama in under 140 characters:

Nov. 29, 4.10pm: was supposed 2 travel 2day.taking off we hear a loud sound(not 2 call it explotion)coming frm the back of the plane followed by crazy heat

Nov. 29, 4.13pm: the cabin got depressurised.not fun.flew for 45 minutes@ 1,300 ft 2 burn fuel.landed n w r fine,but u know what?F it im staying.fly tomorrow

C'mon Ricky, can we have an emergency landing of some full words and spaces on there? Jeez. Anyway, he proceeded to tweet the same messages in Spanish to really get his experience across, and followed the whole incident up with a "do you think you are in control? Today i found out i'm not, and i love it." Way to be positive after almost crashing, Ricky.

Coincidentally, Ricky's fuel dump wasn't the only one to occur over the weekend. On Saturday, NYC Aviation caught some photos of an Saudi Arabian Airlines plane making a fuel dump before emergency landing back at JFK after landing gear issues. It landed safely, but we're still thinking that two fuel dumps and emergency landings in one weekend is two too many.
