Dustin Hoffman Endures His Own Italian Version Of 'Lost In Translation'
When you think of Dustin Hoffman, does traveling around Italian countryside come to mind? It might not now, but it will soon as Dustin Hoffman is in Ancona, Italy now filming an ad for Italian Tourism. We had a look through the typical paparazzi images of his arrival at Ancona Airport and the following few days on set, where Dustin played with a puppy and seemed surround by mysterious Italian bodyguards constantly. But there was something about Dustin in Italy that made him appeal to us.
Dustin Hoffman is like Bill Murray playing Bob Harris in Lost in Translation, although in Italy not Japan and without a Scarlett Johansson. Just look at the image above; the light is beautiful and the framing is greatit's like his little business visit to the Marche region is part of a sequel to Lost in Translation. Hell, those dudes around him look more apt to star in a commercial than he does. Need more proof? Check out after the jump.
That smile. That smile is one of a tired star who is being paid very well to show up to a few-day gig, smile a lot and delight the locals, and in the process keep his name around. Supposedly Dustin is also in the midst of shooting a sequel to Meet the Fockers, but we kind of prefer him uncomfortable in Italy. The forced smiles and palpable ennui of his Italian trip is the stuff of Oscars.
