Analysts think that American Airlines would be interested in US Airways’ hub in Charlotte, as the airline currently doesn’t have a strong hold on air travel within the nation’s Southeast. However, there’s also speculation that since American didn’t go after Northwest and their base in Asia before the Delta merger, that they probably won’t go through all the trouble to just get more planes into the South.
A lot of things seem to depend on how successful Delta will become now that have merged with Northwest. If the airline starts to really pick up market share by being the largest, it appears that other carriers will want to team up to play catch up. We’ll continue to let you know if American Airlines wants to get frisky, or if they just want to stay a wallflower while everyone else is busy getting together. Let's just hope if they do get together, that more of American Airlines' policies are retained, as US Airways doesn't have the best reputation for putting customers first—sorry, we're still a little bitter over that whole charging for water deal.
