There were no injuries, and all 120 passengers on board made it to the ground safely. At least one of the engines was damaged, but the airline spokesperson was unsure of exactly what species ran into the plane. Now that we look back on things, it seems like no big deal, but it certainly didn’t feel that way for passengers.
One passenger reported seeing flames and smelling quite an odor, although the airline couldn’t confirm that there was a fire in either of the engines. The passenger also reported that passengers were crying on the flight, and we can’t blame them, as the sight of fire coming out of an engine would probably cause us to do the same. As we've seen before, bird strikes aren’t just for LGA anymore.
