Only A Few More Weekends Until Seattle's Beer And Chocolate Festival

Technically it’s still fall, but we got one of those overpriced red cup beverages at Starbucks yesterday, so we say it’s time to talk about the winter. The Winter Beer Festival is coming to Seattle in just a few weeks on December 4 and 5. The beer may be cold, but after a few samples, you’ll be feeling nice and toasty.

Things will take place at Hale’s Palladium within Hale’s Ales Brewery, and the tasting is open on Friday evening from 5 to 10pm and on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 10pm. Tickets are $25—save $2 for getting them in advance—and they’ll get you a tasting glass along with six 5.5 ounce samples. That’s a lot more than the usual beer festival offering, so be sure to pace yourself and savor the flavors.

If you need to try a certain beer just once more to identify the caramel undertones, just shell out $1.50 and you can get some extra sips. There will be over 30 seasonal beers from Washington, and since we’re fans of hops and funny names, we’ll be on the lookout for Ballz Deep Double IPA from 7 Seas Brewing Company and Yellow Snow IPA from Issaquah Brewhouse/Rogue Ales.

The best part of the festival is the addition of some chocolate. The festival is teaming up with Seattle’s Chocolate Box to offer some sweet samples to go side by side with your brew. If you need to take a breather during the festival, grab a seat and listen to one of the Chocolate 101 presentations. Maybe you’ll even learn how to pair the perfect chocolate with a specific stout, instead of just mindlessly shoveling truffles into your mouth.
