· All-in-One Travel Power Plug Adapter
We don't understand how this can be true butand there are numbers on thisthere are still international travelers who don't carry one or two of these around. It's a chunk of plastic that magically lets you plug in your computer or cell phone anywhere in the world, eliminating what might be a headache. Your only concern after that is voltage, which shouldn't be a problem for modern peripherals with converters built into the power supplies. There are a bunch of All-In-One adapters that look almost identicalthey all work the same, just make sure the one you buy has a USB outlet as well.
· RFID Blocking Passport Billfold
We don't want to join the tinfoil crowd so we'll ignore how spooky it is that the government is now embedding chips in passports. Instead let's focus on how stupid it is. Even the State Department has admitted that those passports leak your information to anyone around with the right reader. Help gift recipients avoid that headache with an RFID-blocking passport wallet. It beats smashing the chip with a hammer, which was our original plan.
· USBCell AA Rechargeable Batteries
We use one of these with our portable wireless mouse, which we carry around because we often justify an extra hotel night by promising ourselves we'll do work on the trip. That never happens but sometimes the mouse still runs out of juice and needs new batteries. You pop open the cap on these batteries, stick them in the USB port, and they recharge. Environmentally conscious and an excellent excuse to watch SportsCenter "until the battery's done charging."
· A traveler-friendly online account.
Whether it's a subscription to online backup service Mozy so they can back up from the roadwhich everyone should be doingor a Pro account at Flickr so they can show off their travel photography, something digital and subscription-based is a fantastic clutter-free alternative.
· Flip UltraHD Camcorder
We're actually kind of against tourist films since they're the modern equivalent of slide showsno one watches them more than once, etcbut it's undeniable that these cameras are getting more and more popular. If it'll make someone on your list happy and if you're sure they'll never ask you to watch anything they create, why not?
