All of this is of course a bummer for the passengers, since the ships already at sail down in the Caribbean simply rearranged their ports and are still otherwise operating as normal. So, say you've decided that this year is the year for a cruise; how do you handle a weather delay impacting the value of your cruise? Pay attention to what the line is offering, but decide quickly with choices that usually mirror these:
Passengers booked on Carnival Fantasy will receive a pro-rated refund of the cruise fare they paid for the six-night trip. Those on Carnival Triumph's now three-night trip will receive a 50 percent refund. In both cases, passengers have the option to cancel and receive a full refund.
Keeping in mind that the seas are usually quite heavy during and after a hurricane, it might be best to fully cancel your cruise if it's been changed to a 3-day cruise to nowhere, but then if you've got a hankering for pina coladas served poolside, nothing can help you.
