On the NYC side of the menu, individual slices can be served, plain or with your choice of toppings. On opening day, only three were available but the restaurant plans to include more (if they haven't already.) The specialty pizzas include the Central Park, the Times Square and The Empire State with different variations of the Chicago specialty pizzas.
We ordered two slices of pepperoni pizza and we were pleased to see that the wide slices came in a medium heft. (Not those super skinny kinds.) The cheese and pepperoni was perfectly gooey and oily, just what you we want in our pizza. But the dough is still off. It's probably something in the water.
The service was also a little frazzled but since it was their first day open, we'll give them a break. The restaurant has a Pac-Mac table machine in the corner, about six flat-screen TVs and a bar at the back to sip down some wine with your slices.

There's two other pizza joints nearby--Dagowood's and The Slice--making this almost a sort of Pizza Row here in Santa Monica. But NY & C is by far the best. Still, we'll have to line up a slice of their pizza with one from Joe's for the ultimate West Coast pizza taste test.
