Small companies, big families, and perhaps even schools will appreciate the ability to transfer tickets, though we're more grateful for what we've affectionately tagged the "hangover clause." This is the part where they convert uncanceled "no shows" into credit for future flights. That's the kind of thing that might've saved us literally thousands of dollars over the years. Not any more however, because we're responsible now. But during certain periods of our livesthousands.
Only one-way tickets are eligible for Main Cabin Refundable, which kind of sucksThe fares are available round trip according to VA. The press releases they're passing around seem to imply you can only get the deal by dialing into 1.877.FLY.VIRGIN (1.877.359.8474), which means that you'll also have to pay the $15 surcharge that goes with reservation call center bookings. Expect that last part to change sooner rather than later.
Update:
To thank its business guests, as of today Virgin America’s web site now features new business-friendly flexible fare options, including Fully Refundable Main Cabin and Fully Refundable Main Cabin Select fares, as well as a new “Instant Upgrade to Main Cabin Select” fare class.* Previously, Fully Refundable Fares were only available via the airline’s call center and travel agents. The new choices give business and leisure travelers more flexible fare options, as well as access to premium seats at lower fares when their travel plans are not likely to change.
Ok so either we pulled an old release earlier (sorry if so) or this changed faster than we thought possible. Either way, good outcome.
