Get Your 'Boo' At The Zoo With The Top Halloween Zoo Events

If you’re looking to start off your Halloween celebrations a week early, then think about checking out your local zoo. Boo at the Zoo parties take place all across the country, and we’ve highlighted a few of them. They might be intended for kids, but whatever; we’re heading out to show off our Jon Gosselin and Lady Gaga costumes anyway.

· San Francisco Zoo
San Diego isn’t doing anything for the season, so we’ve made our way up to San Francisco for their Boo at the Zoo shindig. Things run this weekend on October 24 and 25 from 10am to 4pm. Kids will receive a dollar off their admission for attending in costume, but adults get no discount for arriving dressed up—and will probably be made fun of by the animals. Make sure you don’t wear rubber masks, because apparently they scare the animals—they probably don’t like those tiger Ed Hardy shirts either.

You’ll make your way around the zoo checking out the lions, tigers, and bears while stopping along the way to fill your bags with treats. Make sure you visit the pumpkin "chomp 'n stomp" stops where the critters get to enjoy their own snacks for the season. The Halloween stuff is included with your $15 daily admission.

· Cleveland Zoo
For our friends in the Cleve, things are well under way at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. They were partying last weekend, but they do have stuff planned for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights this weekend. From 6pm to 9pm the zoo transforms itself into an area for spooktacular fun—their words not ours.

There will be magic shows, stilt walkers, and a hay maze. Both kids and adults are encouraged to wear costumes—as long as they aren’t too scary—so you won’t look out of place. Unfortunately only the kids will get to trick or treat. Tickets here will set you back only $8.

· National Zoo - Washington, DC
The National Zoological Park in Washington is getting in on the Halloween fun as well. However, you need to go this Friday or Sunday, because the Boo at the Zoo party for Saturday night has sold out. They’ve been doing this for 11 years, so this place knows how to combine pumpkins with pandas better than anyone else.

There will be over 40 different stations to fill up your treat bag, but make sure that you spend a little time watching the animals as well. Keepers are on hand to share some of the more spooky aspects of the zoo animals. Each night the zoo will provide some snacks to the lions and tigers so visitors will be able to see the cats in full predatory mode. Tickets will set you back $25.

· Bronx Zoo
For residents of New York City, the Bronx Zoo has their events going on this weekend as well as on October 31 and November 1. Besides all the animals there will be a haunted safari, pumpkin carving demonstrations, and a couple haunted hayrides. We’ll try to stay fair and balanced, but this might be the best pick if you just need to celebrate Halloween with some wild animals.

Tickets here are $15 per adult, and a few bucks less for the kids in your party. Just remember not to spend too much time getting lost in the mazes they have set up, you’ll need some time to get your money’s worth of candy.
