Richard Branson Was With Us In Spirit Last Night At Le Bernardin

October 22, 2009 at 9:33 AM | by JetSetCD | 0 Comments

How do you throw a launch party for a luxury catamaran without the boat or its owner present? Well, if you're Virgin Limited Edition and Richard Branson and his new Necker Belle are unavailable to party, you just down canapes at one of New York City's best restaurants: Le Bernardin.

Surrounded by Virgin's signature red rubber duckies and with visions of Virgin Limited Edition's luxury properties—Swiss ski chalet and Moroccan retreat, anyone?—dancing in our heads, we managed to make it through a few Blue Margaritas at the Necker Belle party last night. Officially to welcome the twin-hulled beauty to the Virgin group, the event also showcased these other small and carefully curated properties owned by Branson through his Limited Edition Label.

Everyone knows about Branson's private piece of the British Virgin Islands: Necker Island, which is the flagship property, but there's a few other gems around the world that Richard is willing to share with vacationers. For skiers, there's The Lodge in Verbier, Switzerland; for those who are "game," there's the Ulusaba Private Game Reserve in South Africa; for the romantic and those in search of culture, there's Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco; and for those seeking a true retreat, there's Sa Terra Rotja on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

Each retreat is extremely unique, but the Necker Belle is the first floating addition to the group. As we've said before, she'll be up for charter in February 2010 for $88,000 per week. Aside from being Branson's baby, there's also talk of Necker Belle and a personal sub—but we won't spill any more beans until more solid information is available.
