This Weekend In The World: Olympic Partying And Oktoberfest Comes Stateside

· Rio de Janeiro:
Do we really have to tell you that Rio is going to be off da chain this weekend, now that they've won the 2016 bid for the Olympic games? We can't even pinpoint one specific event, because all parties, beach throw-downs, and street festivals will be spontaneous showing of support for the city, which will be the first South American city to host the Olympics. Our advice? Simply walk around down by Ipanema and especially Leblon areas.

· New York:
Every days seems to be chock-full of events in NYC, and this weekend is no different. If you dare venture far, far north in Manhattan—indeed the very top tip at Fort Tryon Park—you will run in with the city's Medieval Festival. Taking place up near the Cloisters museum, it's a fitting setting surrounded by the natural beauty of the Hudson River valley. Expect jugglers, costumed revelers, and even jousting on horseback. The festival runs from 11:30am to 6pm on Sunday; for more information, go here

· San Francisco:
Just in case Munich is a bit too far a flight for you right now, San Fran has you covered with their own version of the classic Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest By The Bay is on Pier 48, and actually already began today, running through Sunday and open from 11am to 12am on Saturday and 11am to 6pm on Sunday. If you head down tonight, you'll find live Oompah bands, beer maids with bursting brassieres, quite a bit of sausage, and of course kegs and kegs of the finest Oktoberfest brews. For more information, check out their official website here.
