Become an informed consumer while still on vacation! Check out Jaunted's newest series of the best factory tours the world over.

Sorry, Chicago, your fifteen minutes of fame are up now that you weren't chosen for the 2016 Summer Olympics. We made your senator a President and your talk show host queen, but it's time to go home. It's not you, it's us!

But on the bright side, you have Eli's Cheesecake World to comfort you in your hour of need. President Obama enjoyed a slice of a 500-pound cake at his inauguration in January; now maybe he and Oprah can split a pie together.

Eli Schulman only got into the cheesecake business to give the diners at his steakhouse something to nosh on for dessert, but the sweet cream-cheesy goodness caught on so fast that it even survived the closing of the steakhouse in 2005. At Cheesecake World, northwest of the city (but just east of O'Hare), visitors get to walk into the bakery where the magic happens, as well as taste-test some Eli's innovations. For your health, it's probably best not to combine this stop with visits to Hot Doug's or the Billy Goat Tavern.

Eli's tours cost $3 per person Monday through Friday; weekend tours are free but don't include the bakery. Reserve your tour two weeks in advance by calling (773) 736-3417, or take your chances on a walk-in tour daily at 1PM. No cameras or infants under 1 involved—they eat too many free samples—and wear sneakers or other low-heeled shoes.
