Where To Watch The Big Game In Pittsburgh

January 30, 2009 at 9:19 AM | by kjb | 0 Comments

At this point, it’s Friday and you’re watching the Super Bowl on TV--no Tampa for you. That’s okay, because we have the rundown on the best places to watch the game in Pittsburgh. Yesterday we revealed our picks in Arizona and warned you to get there early, but if you’re going to watch the game in the Steel City--reserve your barstool the day before.

Primanti Brothers Restaurant

This is pretty much the place that Pittsburgh is known for. Just pick your favorite meats and cheeses and you’ll be rewarded with a huge sandwich loaded with fries and coleslaw as well. If you ask, they’ll even try to cram some onions in there if there’s any room left. There’s seven locations within the city proper, including the original 24 hour joint, in addition to eight in the ‘burbs and two in Florida! Oh yes, there’s TVs too, and don’t even think of cheering on the other team.

Jerome Bettis Grille 36

The logical thing to do after retiring from a successful football career is to start your own restaurant right on the riverfront. That’s what The Bus did and he’s proud to let you know about his bar's 50 TVs that are capable of showing over 12 different games. Burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads (who gets those) are all available along with 36 beers on tap to wet your whistle. The restaurant even overlooks Heinz Field, so you know this a good place.

Carson City Saloon

Over on the Southside of town sits the city’s largest HDTV, or at least that’s what they’re claiming. Carson City Saloon was opened up by three brothers not too long ago, after they were fed up with the usual lackluster bar experience. You can even read their humorous interpretation of the restaurant’s founding, full of references to TPS Reports and Tommy Callahan, Jr. The place is spread out across three floors, and they are ready to fill you up on food and drink. We recommend ordering the 100 oz. Beer Tower, so you can pour your own right at the table. Sorry, we don't have a roundup of the city's best taxis, but we're sure the bartender knows of one (or three).
