Team Famous: Mike White (writer of "The School of Rock" in which he also played Jack Black's dopey roommate, as well as "Nacho Libre") teams up with father Mel White. Potential roadblock: Bigotry. Mel, a minister, ghostwrote books for Billy Graham and Jerry Falwell before breaking with the evangelical movement and coming out of the closet. How long before he runs up against this season's version of The Weavers?
Team Former D1 Athletes: We love sisters LaKisha and Jennifer Hoffman, who represented University of Louisville in basketball (LaKisha, 28) and volleyball (Jennifer, 24). Talk about girl power! Potential roadblock: Layup or spike?
Team Litigious: Siblings Victor (35) and Tammy Jih (26) both graduated from Stanford undergrad and Harvard Law. He specializes in business and entertainment litigation in L.A.; she's a trial lawyer in San Francisco. Potential roadblock: Fandom. According to their official bios, he's a Romber (Rob and Amber) admirer, but she prefers TK and Rachel. Meta-destruction ahead!
Team Travel Industry: Christie Volkmer and Jodi Wincheski at least know how to pack light -- they're both Southwest Airlines flight attendants. Potential roadblocks: What if their superior customer-service instincts kick in right when they should be leaving the other teams behind? Also, and this is an unconfirmed spoiler, teams will supposedly be traveling along the Trans-Siberian Railroad -- uncharted waters for a woman with her wings!
Team Shorties: Brothers Michael and Mark Munoz are working stuntmen, both just 4'9". Michael has doubled for Danny DeVito; you may have seen Mark's stunts in "Walk Hard" and "Zack and Miri Make a Porno." Potential roadblocks: Their height; mockery by crew.
Team Eye Candy: What could be more fun to watch than a whirlwind trip around the world? How about former Miami Dolphins cheerleaders? Cara Rosenthal (children's cheertator) and Jaime Edmondson (Pro Bowl bound) are guaranteed to be 79 percent less bitter than last season's divorcees. Potential roadblock: Temptation to do cheers for other teams.
Team Awwwh: Kris Klicka and Amanda Blackledge, a San Diego couple dating for three years, are the kind of couple whose Facebook profile pictures are lovey-dovey snaps of them together. (Yes, we checked.) The way you feel about that practice likely dictates whether you will be rooting for or against these crazy kids. Potential roadblock: Too sweet to pull off a Romber-style mindmeld to place anywhere near the top 3.
This Season's Toni and Dallas: Luke Adam is the first deaf contestant on the Race, a native Coloradan paired up with his mom Margaret and currently working at Starbucks. Potential roadblock: Will, like above-referenced mother-son pair, inevitably break our hearts upon Phil-imination.
Team Underdog: Victoria Hunt of Columbus, Ohio, was told she could never run again after surgery to correct a lifelong hip dysplasia. Now she and husband Brad are making a $1 million bet the doctors are wrong. Potential roadblock: Did you know that in all the seasons of the Race, happily married heterosexual couples have only finished in the top 3 three times? Two of those were winners (Chip and Kim, season 5, and Uchenna and Joyce, season 7) but those are not great odds.
Team Turbulence: Jennifer Hopka and Preston McCamy of Columbia, South Carolina are described as being at a crossroads in their relationship: She wants to settle down; despite moving closer to her, he's just not sure. Hey guys, way to pick a couple who doesn't conform to stereotypical gender roles! (Sarcasm.) Potential roadblock: Producers will sabotage them after America begs for mercy.
Team Flyover: According to their official bios, Linda and Steve Cole were once robbed of all their money and IDs while traveling in Guatemala. That should prepare them well for a non-elimination penalty! Potential roadblock: See Team Underdog.
