Would You Rent A Scoot Coupe?

January 21, 2009 at 2:35 PM | by | Comments (3)

You probably wouldn't road trip in an open-topped golf cart, even in a very dry country. So why is everyone going nuts about the Scoot Coupe, a $6,200 two-person car? And wouldn't riding in it be totally humiliating?

"The Price Is Right" host Drew Carey gave away one of these three-wheelers, which can go 60 to 70 miles on one gallon of gas, on today's show. Of course, with a 1.5-gallon tank, you're not going very far, and at a top speed of 45 mph you won't be headed there fast.

Blogger The Succulent Wife rented one in Las Vegas, saying "[t]he Strip never looked so glorious" with the unobstructed views. You can get one on Florida's Amelia Island for a breezy day trip. Gearhead blog Jalopnik even spotted one in Motor City Detroit. Would you take it for a spin?
