Las Vegas Strip Helicopter Tour For Those With ADD

Where: 275 East Tropicana Ave [map], Las Vegas, NV, United States, 89109

Everyone knows there is plenty to keep Las Vegas touristers and conventioners occupied once the sun goes down, but what do you do while the sun is out? Yes, we know, you can lounge by the pool, however the desert is not exactly a tropical climate and many pools are empty, closed, or sparsely populated during the winter months.

With this in mind we set out to find something to do during the daytime that didn't involve shopping, drinking or gambling, but still involved an adrenaline rush. Thus, it should be no surprise we ended up sitting in the co-pilots seat for a strip helicopter ride.

There are plenty of helicopter tours available at Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters, but our requirements were fairly strict -- we only had one hour available. Luckily for us, Papillon offers a quick 10 minute strip helicopter tour. A van picks you up at your hotel, drives you to the heliport where you are weighed, watch a short five-minute video, and served a glass of champagne.

Next you are ushered onto the helipad amidst the Mirage Lear Jets and Venetian 747s (these jets are sent out to retrieve casino high rollers), you board a helicopter with a partial glass bottom, put on a pair of headphones and listen to jams like Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son," which is sometimes interrupted by a pilot who points out architectural highlights along the strip and downtown Las Vegas.

It is a quick trip, perfect for someone who doesn't want to commit a ton of time to a full or half day helicopter tour, but still wants an adrenaline rush without having to count on hitting a straight flush at the tables.

Cost: $83.00/adult

Where To Book: Official Web Site

Total Time Commitment: 1 - 1.5 hours
